Alternative text: Arro’conmango es una palabra que se utiliza para designar gazapera, despelote, lío, salpicón, mezcla; además de ser un plato delicioso en cierta región del Bolívar grande. Pero también, es un grupo de hombres y mujeres del arte que trabajan desde 1986 en pro de la cultura en general y del teatro en particular. Somos un Arro’conmango: una mezcla de sueños, de ideas, de acciones y de proyectos. Somos un Arro´conmango porque fundimos nuestros sueños irrealizados para hacerlos realidad y entendemos que el caos antecede a toda creación. De estas convicciones resultó la formación de un grupo de teatro (nuestra principal actividad), la creación de la Biblioteca abierta especializada en teatro y literatura, la retorta viva (programa cultural semanal al aire libre), cine - parque (con techo de estrellas) y la ronda nacional de teatro; todo tras una primera gran meta: La Sala, donde cada uno de los proyectos anteriores tiene su espacio y su tiempo. Durante casi 30 años hemos tenido altas y bajas. Sin embargo, nuestra participación en los eventos nacionales ha sido notoria: jornadas de cultura popular realizadas en 1989, festivales de teatros locales y regionales, nacionales e internacionales. Entre estos cabe destacar el Encuentro Latinoamericano de Teatro en Bogotá, el Festival Internacional de Teatro de Manizales, el Festival Alternativo de Teatro de Bogotá y el Festival Internacional de Teatro de Ciudad Bolívar en Venezuela. Hemos puesto en escena un sinnúmero de ejercicios y efímeros teatrales, también aproximadamente 11 obras de teatro, de las cuales tenemos en repertorio “Azul Profundo”, “Quítate tú que ahora vengo yo” y “Socorro Segundo Encuentro”. Es importante anotar que Arro´conmango muestra en sus obras el sentir del Caribe: su ritmo, su color, su calor, el carnaval y la realidad latinoamericana como referencia. Somos consecuentes con la relación del artista y su tiempo, por ello asumimos la obligación de la búsqueda, la construcción de un lenguaje y una dramaturgia propia.

But it is also a group of artistic men and women working since 1986 in favor of culture in general and of theater in particular. We’re an “Arro’conmango”: a mix of dreams, ideas, actions and projects. We’re an “Arro’conmango”’ because we merge our unfulfilled dreams to make them real, and we understand that it is chaos what precedes all creation. These convictions originated the creation of a theater group (our major activity), the creation of the Open Library specialized in theater and literature, the “Retorta Viva” (a cultural weekly program held outdoors), Park–Cinema (with a canopy of stars) and the National Theater Round; all of this with a big first aim: “La Sala”, where each of the above-mentioned projects has its place and time. For almost 30 years we have had ups and downs. However, our participation in national events has been notorious: popular culture workshops held in 1989, local, regional, national and international theater festivals. These include the Latin American Conference of Theater in Bogota, the International Theatre Festival of Manizales, the Alternative Theater Festival of Bogota and the International Theatre Festival of Ciudad Bolivar in Venezuela. We have staged innumerable exercises and ephemeral plays, and about 11 plays, of which we have in repertory “Deep Blue”, “Move, it’s my turn” and “Socorro Second Meeting”. It is important to note that Arro’conmango shows in its works the feeling of the Caribbean: its rhythm, its color, its warmth, its carnival and the Latin American reality as a reference. We are consistent with the relationship between the artist and his time, and this is why we assume the obligation to search, build a language and a dramaturgy of our own.

Alternative text: “El Pleito de la muñeca abandonada” cuya versión ofrecemos en Arro’conmango, es una obra de teatro para niños escrita por Alfonso Sastre que ha sido representada abundantemente en todo el mundo. El tema central se basa en una antigua leyenda china, paralela al tema bíblico-popular del juicio de Salomón. La resolución del problema que se plantea es la lucha por la posesión de un muñeca abandonada entre dos niñas: la niña pobre que la recoge, y la niña de familia pudiente que, después de deshacerse de ella, la reivindica por el mero hecho de que no soporta la nueva relación de posesión basada en el afecto que se establece entre la muñeca vieja y rechazada y la niña pobre. “El trapero” resuelve la situación crítica por medio de la prueba del círculo de tiza. Alternative text: “The lawsuit for the abandoned doll.” That we offer in Arro’conmango, it’s a play for children written by Alfonso Sastre which has been represented around the world. The central theme is based on an ancient Chinese legend, parallel to the popular bible story of judgment of Solomon. The resolution of the problem that arises is the struggle for the possession of an abandoned doll between two girls: the poor one who find the doll and the rich one who, after rejecting her, she wants it back because she doesn’t tolerate the new relationship and growing affection between the old, raggedy doll and the poor girl who finds her. “The Ragman” resolves the critical situation through the chalk circle test.
